Milton Friedman – Public Housing

October 27, 2012

Professor Friedman looks at the destination of another road paved with good intentions. www.LibertyPen.com

There is an epidemic going on that Boyd Mark Dishman thinks he can just ignore and thus continue to abuse the low income and disabled people of Tennessee by collecting rent from apartments infested with bed bugs. This is a social injustice that needs to end right now. It goes beyond just this property. If this is not taken care of, it will spread. There are reports this problem is already in other low income housing and public housing in Johnson City Tennessee. This is a true public health crisis. Something needs to be done immediately!! This place needs a health inspector to visit right now. Public Records show that the property is owned by: Boyd Mark Dishman II 1001 Union St A-1 Kingsport TN 37660 Feel free to let him know what you think…

I currently live in public housing. My neighbours are anti-social alcoholics and drug addicts. I’m working towards getting out of here.

    THANK YOU

I agree with outlaw. FDR adopted Keynes’ spending theory and the US has never abandoned it. It was modified somewhat at different times but Obama has brought it roaring back. Inflation is the result (it will be next year’s big news story) and, as Friedman said in a different video, inflation is a tax that must be paid.

OBAMA loves public housing regulation. Look at CHICAGO, the public housing urban renewal policies in CHICAGO was an EPIC FAILURE. OBAMA champion these stupid ideas as a SENATOR, & passed regulations & fined banks for not lending money out to low income minorities that cannot even pay their phone bills. Thus causing the housing crisis. Than they turn around around and blame BUSH for the failed policies.

“You mean to say that the public housing units are not run by absentee landlords?”
    I lost it there!

And we still elected Obama and the Dims.

No, it’s not false. Read your history more closely, sir/ma’am.

  10. indieclockOct 27, 2012 at 8:18 am

Maybe you should try reading what I posted first before posting (just some advice for your next debate). Nice try, though. A for effort.

what strawman? his idea was never tried.

  14. outlaw87100Oct 27, 2012 at 10:21 am

No, I want you to address my argument, and not to build a strawman.

Friedman advocated for a computer program that would increase the money supply in accord with increased production. He did not favor the FED in its current form, political shills who arbitrarily print (actually done digitally) money.

Friedman sounds cute on a podium, but those ideas are just ideas. They didnt and wont work.

The US and the UK implemented Friedman’s theory of monetarism at the end of the 70s, and each time, severe recessions hit. The federal reserve adopted Friedman’s ideas in 1979, and abandoned them after unemployment hit double digits. Balancing the budget is far superior to Freidman’s monetarism. Reagan stuck to Friedman, and he went on to run up the highest peacetime deficit in US history. Problem is, you guys go for fancy phrases while ignoring history.

  18. outlaw87100Oct 27, 2012 at 11:26 am

    Actually, it has.

  19. fzqlcsOct 27, 2012 at 11:49 am

How would anyone know, it has never been tried.

  20. outlaw87100Oct 27, 2012 at 12:10 pm

How’s Friedman’s theory of monetarism doing nowadays?!

  21. playerjoeOct 27, 2012 at 12:46 pm

@jubalcurrent That is not true. He is not a liar its a fact that hes speaking the truth. Public housing and welfare have caused the poor to to create crime and destroy their neighborhoods. Venture Capitalist create jobs when the government properly regulates them to make sure they do not behave in a monopolistic manner. If you have free enterprise with small government enforcing the free market n allowing people to make their own decisions. You have a thriving country. FACT!

Just building public housing doesn’t create a community, especially when there are structural inequalities that are preexisting. Milton Friedman is a liar when he says that he is a liberal. He is liberal with other people’s money because he believes in vulture capitalism that transfers wealth from the masses of middle class to the rich. His policies have resulted in virtually eliminating the middle class in the US.

hey i give them credit for trying. its important to realize that we’re all on the same side, just with different approaches to fixing the problem. by challenging his mindset, they can begin to rightly adjust and get closer to a better solution.
