Sandra asks…

what kind of credit check is required when leasing a apartment?

I have credit challenges due to unpaid credit cards and medical bills can this keep me from beig approved for a apartment?

Administrator answers:

The entire scope of a credit check is different between each apartment community and landlord. If they do a check and you have certian ratings or a low score, it could prevent you from getting the apartment you want. I would be honest, explain the situation and ask if there is anything you can do to get the apartment. Perhaps a cosigner or additional months security deposit.

Good Luck!

Where is a good place to get a futon for a dorm?

I am looking to find a loft and futon somewhere for my dorm room. I want it obviously to be in good conditon so that it wont break after a week of having it but i also dont want to spend an ungodly amount of money on it since im not sure if it will fit in my apartment next year.

Administrator answers:

First place I’d look is probably on Craigslist. This allows you to find locals that are getting rid of their futons due to moving or whatever the reason (FIND OUT their reasoning if they didn’t say so in the post). Next place I’d look is probably Overstock.com. They give you select frames that are on sale by the manufacturers, in which they are usually the best deal you can find for new (unused) items. Last place I’d look is Ikea, they offer cheap frames made out of particle wood or metal frames that will last you a good 3-4 years or probably more depending on how you use it. Although Ikea is probably known for their less-than standard quality for frames, they offer great design and a great look for a very decent price.

You also have other options like going on eBay or Amazon, thing is places like those are very hit and miss, especially if you find a seller that has low ratings. They also take a long time to get items to you, but if you are familiar with either platform I’d say search through there as well to find what you like!

Hope this helps!

Helen asks…

What size TV and brand would be best to buy?

I am fixing to move out into a one bedroom apartment, so I really want a TV that will make my space a WOW factor. I went to Walmart and I saw a 70″ LED Sharp TV for 1600. The thing is, I really don’t know much about TV’s so I need any info I might be able to use when purchasing one. This particular TV had 4 HDMI ports (I know what those are used for, and as of now, I don’t think I’d need more than 3) and WIFI compatible. That was pretty much it. However, I’ve seen some TV’s that say LED, LCD and all these other tech words that I’m not familiar with. I really can’t wait for the Walking Dead to come back on. It would be some serious zombie time on a TV that huge! Any recommendations?

Administrator answers:

First of all, you need to know the good brands out there. There are lots of brands that are not good and are prone to give problems soon after buying them and HDTVs are very expensive to be repaired. So, I recommend that you get one of the best brands in HDTVs. They are listed below.
1. Samsung
2. Panasonic
3. LG
4.Sony
5.Vizio

Those brands above are very good and have ratings in the manner in which they are listed.
Definitely, firstly I recommend Samsung. Those brands I listed are based on their quality in terms of durability, performance, features and are voted by based on consumers hands- on experiences.

Next I want to chose a HDTV that has the minimum 120 hz (higher is better)
What really matters most in HDTVs selection is the Pixels-1080 p is awesome for HDTVs, so ensure that your TV has 1080p ( don’t get less than that)

So with that now , you can go ahead and chose an HDTV LCD based on the size you want and also if you want one with 3D technology etc.
Hope my answer helped you out enough.
