Richard asks…

Four bedroom apartments in New York City?

Hey guys,

In August, I’m moving to New York City with three friends. Is it fairly easy to find four bedroom apartments in Manhattan? We’re hoping to live in NoHo, Chinatown, or really anywhere below Central Park. How much do you think rent would be? We’re definitely not looking for anything fancy – just a place to stay for a few years.

Thanks for your help!

Administrator answers:

It will be almost impossible. For those locations you can expect rent to tun 7,000-12,000 a month.

New York Apartments for rent?

Hi i am having a bit of trouble looking for a 1 bedroom apartment in the New York city area (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn) anywhere between $600 & $1000. I have tried looking on Craigslist but every time i think i find something, it turns out being a scam. Are there any good websites that can be that can help me find an apartment for under $1000.

Linda asks…

What are the teants rights when it comes to physical maintanence in a rent regulated apartment?

If I’m a tenant in a rent stabilized or rent controlled apartment in New York City, what rights do I have when dealing with the physical maintanence? What rights do I have over the landlord? (can I discontinue rent or reduce rent, etc..)

Thanks

Administrator answers:

I really doubt being rent controlled or not would have anything to do with maintenance issues. (we do not have rent control here) As far as I know they are still required to fix things the same as any other landlord.

It is typically illegal to withhold any portion of the rent for repair issues without a court order. The following is legal in most states:

You need to send them a certified letter stating the needed repair. Any verbal notification will not hold up in court. They then have 30 days to fix it unless it is an emergency item. You can then have a licensed contractor fix it and take only that amount off the next months rent. Be sure to give them a copy of the paid invoice.

Michael asks…

how much does it cost to buy an apartment in New York City?

I was wondering how much it costs to buy an apartment in New York City and how much in rent you pay each month? Please help, thanks!

Administrator answers:

Depends on the quality of living you desire. There are rent controlled buildings but many of them are difficult to find available apartments. Overall New York is a very expensive place to live. Expect to pay upwards of $1000 and around $1200-1500 for a decent place. Check the link below.

how much do apartments usually cost in new york city?
I was just wondering out of curiousity. I am not planning on buying one. I don’t live in a city so I don’t know how they decide the prices.

Administrator answers:

To rent anywhere from 1,500 to 2,500 some apartment in the city include heat and hot water sometimes if your really lucky power.
To own its like 200,000 any up Good luck

craigslist is mostly scams…your better off taking a trip to the city and walking around in the area you want to live in. You might even get a better deal!
