Questions about Minnesota?

I visited this lovely state a couple days ago. Very beautiful. I saw mostly middle aged people though. I’m 24.

Is Minnesota safe? especially Minneapolis? How much does it cost to live there? are there any people my age that live there? I didn’t see any and I was in the city, and along several small towns across the middle of the state.

Administrator answers:

Stay away from the northeast part of Minneapolis. It’s not so safe.

As far as rent goes you can get a really nice apartment (2+ bedrooms) for as little as $700/month and those are in the safer suburbs.

There are 24 year olds in MN. I am one. You are probably less likely to see them in small towns because we tend to move away from the smaller towns but they do exist in Minneapolis. Was it during the week? They may have been at work.

A few Minnesota questions?

I live in Minneapolis, and I think it is a great place to live. Minneapolis is a fairly large city, and the cost of living varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. I live near the U of M campus, and I’m paying about $500 a month in rent for my room in a 4 bedroom house. However I have friends living in South Minneapolis paying that for their own apartments, and friends living downtown paying three times that for their own apartments.

If you are downtown during the day, you will see a lot of middle-aged people because it is a business district. If you stop in downtown at night, you will see a huge switch in the demographics. Also, a lot of the more touristy areas of Minneapolis are also the most expensive places to live, hence all of the middle-aged people.

There are a lot of people in their 20s near the U of M campus, in South Minneapolis, and the Uptown area, so if you are thinking about moving here I would definitely check those areas. I’m in my 20s and have absolutely no problem finding people to hang out with!

Jobs in Minnesota?

I currently live in Michigan and I will be moving to Apple Valley,MN in a few months. I am looking for employment. I am a college student (no degrees yet) I have a lot of experience in sales, customer service, security, and management I was also a Account Executive as well as a sales manager. Where should I go? What places in the Twin cities area would you recommend? I’m 22 male, and I will be living with my g/f in an apartment, so i would need a job/or career to take care of all my necessities

thanks

Administrator answers:

Youd probably be better off moving to minneapolis. I guess it depends on what type of job you want.. My parents live in apple valley, and i really dislike that town. (i like to call it corporate america headquarters)
if youre looking for a corporate job it will be a good spot. There are lots of smaller businesses that will treat you better in minneapolis

Carol asks…

Where are elections held in your state? In Pennsy, it’s mostly……?

at public schools (closed that day) which would explain why we can’t have early voting — we’d have to close the schools too long. Where are yours held?
I should know this, but what’s a grange?
Wow, that’s quite an array of places. Thanks all!

Administrator answers:

I live in Minneapolis and it’s at schools, libraries, and where I vote, it’s actually the first floor of an apartment complex. But the schools stay open while voting. There is voting at my son’s school but it won’t affect the students and classes.
