Joseph asks…

which city in the US is economically better for a new coming family,2 children, to america?

answer by experienced people please. I have to immigrate to the US in 3 months. we have 2 small children and must find a job and cheap apartment. please lead me to a right city. thank you

It would be nice if you told us what you did for a living. With today’s economy and thousands getting laid off each day you are not being wise in moving here at this time. But, if you must then I would highly recommend Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill or Charlotte in North Carolina. Cost of living isn’t as high as many other major cities in the U.S. And the housing is quite affordable that is why many from other Northern cities have moved and continue to move to this area because we have not been hard hit by the bad economy. Public schools are great here too.

Please, let me appologize for all the anti-Muslim rants. As a US citizen, I am incredibly embarrassed to be reading them. While it is true that times are hard here, and even harder for the most recently arrived, this intolerance is not the norm.

I live in Texas and the economy is strong here, but so is the flood of both foreign and domestic immigrants. Rents are incredibly high and the wages are typically not enough to support the high rents on one salary. Go where God leads you and trust that He will care for you, but please know ahead of time that it is a bad time to look for your break into a new culture.

Good luck and God bless.

Ken asks…

Is it cheaper for a 19 year old to live in Austrailia or America?

you know how when you just get done graduating and you go out and live in an apartment? would it be cheaper to do that in America or Austraila. sorry random curiosity =p

Administrator answers:

Everything is too expensive in australia at the moment. You could live in an apartment here, but don’t expect to have any luxuries, such as food for instance.

You just can’t move to a country like the Philippines or Thailand and plant yourself there! There are immigration procedures to answer to, proper visa rules to follow.

If you are retired and have a verifiable definite income coming in (like a pension) it is a little easier than being a younger person with no source of legal income.

My choice is the Philippines and Thailand although I think Malaysia might be easier to stay in (but less fun.) Visit first and talk to some of the expats. U.S. Passport will give you a free 21 days entry for the Philippines and 30 days for Thailand. In these countries you will find decent hospitals, modern malls and supermarkets plus reasonably priced transportation.

You could fly to Thailand and purchase a round trip flight to the Philippines and visit both places. Cost of plane ticket between Manila and Bangkok is around $300 on PAL.

Try it before you buy it applies to permanent or semi permanent moves overseas! If you intended to work in these countries you have to come up with a good reason for a local company to hire you over one of their own citizens who can speak the language – salaries are low too!
