Linda asks…

Where can I get a safe, active, fun, short term (4 month) apartment lease in Denver, CO?

I working in the Denver, CO area until the end of December. I need a one bedroom/studio apartment in a safe area of SW Denver. I am open to South Aurora, Wash Park, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Greenwood Village, Glendale, etc. I would love to keep rent under $600 a month. I would love to be in an active/ young professionals neighborhood.

Does anyone know of apartment complexes or any leasing agents/companies that can help me! Anything helps! Thank you!

Administrator answers:

Are you actually expecting an apartment to be ‘active’ and ‘fun’?

As you want a very short lease, you’ll find it difficult – most landlords prefer longer-term tenants, and have minimum 6-month leases.

Maria asks…

What is the cost of living for a family consisting of husband, wife & a child in Denver?

I am moving from India to Denver for two years. Want to know how much would be the monthly expenditure in respect of housing, travel, food, utilities, taxes, etc

Administrator answers:

You will find that the cost of living in America is extremely high in comparison to India. You need to pay in the area of $1,000 per month rent for any sort of decent 2 bedroom apartment. Utilities will run $200 or more per month. There is no decent public transportation so a car is a necessity and that will cost you $500 or more per month. You will spend around $500 for food etc. So bottom line is that you will spend $35,000 to $40,000 per year just for the basics of life.

Laura asks…

What is the average going rent rate in Denver or Colorado Springs, CO?

Ive made a few contacts for employment, and with the possibility of having to move out, I was just curious what the average rent rate would be in the two listed cities. A one bedroom with kitchen, living room, 1.5 bath (if possible) and preferably with dish washer, washer and dryer already installed. Just the average nice place, nothing too fancy and not a place that’s barely staying together. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Administrator answers:

We live in SW Denver, near Lakewood and Littleton, and have a two bedroom, two bath, with dishwasher, washer and dryer hook-up (but they offer them as well). We got our apartment on special and pay $810 a month, utilities run about $150 per month. I’m guessing you will pay anywhere from $750- 1000.
