Is it customary for landlords to give tenants a rent reduction due to construction?
It has been extended from 3 to 6 weeks in duration. The noise is directly above my studio apt.
Not necessarily customary, but certainly within the realm of possibility. You may request a reduction, but it may not be honored. As a landlord, one of my main objectives is to keep my tenants happy and this “noise/construction” situation would fall into that gray area where i would ask myself “are my tenants (you) good ones? Do they pay on time? No bounced checks? Do i want them to remain tenants?”….if the answers are answers are yes, then i might take 10-20% off their rent as a gesture of good will; if the answer is “no”, then i’d just deny their request, claiming unforseen circumstances beyond my control. An additional three weeks is not that long (i’d claim). Bottom line: depends on you and the landlord’s relationship.
Where can I rent an apartment spending no more than 900 dollars a month in Orange county and Long Beach area?
I am looking for an apartment (not a studio apt!!), that is reasonably priced and over 500 square feet in the orange county area. Also am considering the Long Beach area as well with the same criteria.

Stay in the outskirts as rent is too high,but if you must then North Hollywood is great.
The NOHO district next town is OVER-priced. Also the Brady Bunch home(1960s tv show) is near North Hollywood.

I’m looking for someone to help me complete my lease for the next six months its a nice studio apt for one and i need someone to occupy it for the month of sept 2006 through January 2007 when my lease will be due.
The location is very close to Loyola college in Chicago IL and the train station runs 24hrs to Downtown and Howard.The building has an Elevator and the asking rent per mth is $540:00 it has no money down and $40:00 deposit for background check.If anyone knows someone that needs a palce for rent pls contact me as my time is running out…..Thanx a Mill
OTHER THAN THE INTERNET YOU CAN MAKE UP A CATCHY POSTER WITH YOUR INFO ON IT AND GO TO GROCERY STORES OR DEPARTMENT STORES LIKE WALLY WORLD, MANY WILL HAVE A BULLETIN BOARD JUST FOR LOCALS TO POST THINGS. THEY HAVE TONS OF PEOPLE GOING THROUGH SO MAYBE A FEW WILL STOP AND LOOK. IN MY TOWN THE MALL HAS ONE. CAFES OR RESTAURANTS MIGHT HAVE A BOARD. SCHOOLS ARE A GOOD PLACE TO POST ALSO… GOOD LUCK…
I rent an apt, I think I overwet the carpet…?
I just moved into a studio. The carpet was dirty and I had no time to move so I got rug doctor. However, I think I overdid it… I believe some part of the carpet padding is wet and some part of the carpet smells musty…
I live in a very small place. Carpet takes about 300 square feet, and how much does it cost to replace the carpet? Not that I will do it, but I feel like I need to talk to landlord about this issue asap. Maybe a possible avoidable excuse would be awesome too. I feel like it’s time for him to get me a new carpet anyway (there has been a tenent living here for past 5 years with same carpet…)
If carpeting gets wet like that, they can pull it up from the tack strips and run strong turbo fans underneath it to dry out the carpet and padding (standard treatment for minor flooding).
Low to medium grade carpet is about $20 to $30 a square yard (9 square feet). So, 300 square feet would be 33.3 square feet. So, you’re looking at about $670 to $1000. Maybe a bit extra for installation (couple hundred $$$?).
